This Christmas holiday, we at La DoubleJ are bringing our joyful magic to Milan’s historic pastry shop Cucchi, from now until January 12th.
We transformed Cucchi—without losing a drop of the legendary café’s old-world charm!– waving our print-tastic wand over everything from tabletops to windows. For the occasion, we customized La DoubleJ’s first original print, a charming multicolored motif of flowers, berries and rabbits called Babe, and put it on chocolate boxes and wrappings for panettone, the 83-year-old pasticceria’s must-try specialty. And of course, we decked the café’s Christmas trees with oversize, fluoro-bright ornaments made by Mexican artisans, along with ribbon-tied bows and flowers. It is highly Instagrammable and already the site of many, many selfies.
We also created a selection of La DoubleJ x Cucchi merchandise, now available for sale, pairing La DoubleJ’s Italian-made porcelains in the Libellula motif with special Cucchi treats:
The origin of this unique partnership stretches back almost two decades. J.J. Martin adopted Cucchi as a sort of quaint and bustling office space when she first arrived in Milan. “For my first 14 years in Milan while I was a journalist, I spent every day in this café writing my stories next to the well-dressed children and old men,” explains J.J. “At first the owner thought I was nuts, because I was in public with a computer but now, they are like family.”
La DoubleJ x Cucchi runs through January 12th.
