Vintage Battle Piece No. 6: The Long-Sleeved 1970s Maxi Dress

V.V. : You can have that plaid Valentino. I want the polka dots, and I’m feeling very Cuban this morning. You know, Panama hat, blazer and flat Gucci moccasins.

J.J. : Oh come on, Viv, live a little! I pulled on my new Gianvito Rossi knee-length boots and tossed my old, beloved Costume National shearling vest over this vintage Valentino dress. Can you say haute-hippie?

Vintage Battle Piece No. 5: The Peruvian skirt

V.V. : Super CIAO! [That’s V.V. speak for ‘love!’]. I want to wear this at a countryside manor with my MSGM sweater, Ralph Lauren shirt and CB Made in Italy flats.

J.J. : Sorry BABE, but a cha-cha-cha skirt requires Gianvito Rossi heels and a snuggly Rick Owens shearling jacket!  Ciao-CIAO!

Vintage Battle Piece No. 4: The Two-Piece Blouse and Ball Skirt

V.V. : Oh-la-la, I love a little plaid action! I went with the whole look, but threw my Zara military jacket over it and added Gianvito Rossi heels. Clearly, La DoubleJ’s #patternbombs are sinking into my psyche.

J.J. : If you’re going military, it might as well be high end! I pulled on a Saint Laurent shirt and Tabitha Simmons flats. I can rarely handle high heels these days. But admittedly, your Gianvitos are kind of working.

Vintage Battle Piece No. 3: The Tyrolean Embroidered Jacket

V.V. : I can’t resist an open men’s shirt, I just feel chicer. I almost put on pink kitten heels with this, but ended up in my favorite pair of Stan Smiths.

J.J. : You couldn’t pay me to put on Stan Smiths! This fur-trimmed jacket requires the drama of a Prada jacquard skirt and my beloved Gianvito Rossi lace-up boots.

Vintage Battle Piece No. 2: The Graphic Tunic and Trouser Set

V.V. : This is the one set I don’t want to break up! I feel like Bianca Jagger. With Miu Miu flats, this is so CIAO. Can I please keep this outfit, J.J. ?

J.J. : Absolutely not. We have to sell it to our DoubleJ fanclub.  Meanwhile, getting me into pants is like putting a cat in a shower. But I survived and mixed my print with a beloved J. Crew embroidered shirt, Prada checked wool jacket and Brian Atwood pom-pom slippers.  Cheee-ow!

Vintage Battle Piece No. 1: The Glittering Shirt and Skirt Set

V.V. : Sorry, but I can’t take full on-pattern all the time. I had to break it up with my leather Saint Laurent leggings and Alberto Biani black blazer. I need a little rock n’ roll in my life.

J.J. : Full-on pattern is my middle name and I detest rock n’ roll. Not only will I wear this set together, but I’m going to pull on Sportmax’s leopard jacquard sweater and Aquazzura’s flats because the maximalist in me says, Yes I can, BABE!
