We admit it, La DoubleJ loves a gorgeous interior, which is why we couldn’t resist the invitation to shack up with hot, young architect-designer Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte in his newly minted Milanese home during Salone del Mobile, the world’s premier furniture fair and the most exciting time of the year to be in Milan. This wasn’t the first time we got cozy in an amazingly designed interior—we clinked glasses for our launch event in Paris with mytheresa.com. But it was the first time we took all of our amazing vintage loot out of the La DoubleJ fashion closet and gave everyone the green light to come and try it on, alongside handcrafted design objects from Oevffice and specially selected objects from Carwan Gallery in a quintessentially Milanese appartamento.

The paint had barely dried on the monochrome walls before hundreds of people—fashion and furniture designers, architects, editors, friends and oglers—descended on the space to raid the new home’s overstuffed vintage-filled closet and to pillage our sparking bijoux while sipping on Tenuta Sette Ponti white wine.

The cool-as-a-cucumber Lecompte – who is both designer of the Oeffice furniture and co-owner of Carwan gallery- saw his sleekly drawn Piinac marble dining table draped in a colorful riot of collectible jewelry by Ugo Correani, Miriam Haskell, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent to name a few. The minimal interiors, which featured Lecompte’s minimal marble stools, berber carpets and aluminium candelabra and table, were spiced up with our dressed-to-the-nines manichini as well as blown-up photographs of our Legendary Ladies. The opening party brought out some of our favorite Milanese including Great Gorgeous Girls Uberta Zambeletti, Sveva Camurati, Sandra Musso, Enrica Ponzellini and Carolina Neri as well as Super Cool Sciura Rossella Jardini and fashion designers Massimo Giorgetti and Ennio Capasa.

The Pop-Up party continued to bubble throughout the remainder of the week of the Salone, with DoubleJ fans such as Angela, Margherita, and Rosita Missoni, Tory Burch (who brought her entire travelling entourage), BDDW founder Tyler Hayes and furniture designer Bethan Laura Wood (who brought us baked bread men that she personalized with DoubleJ jewels) all making visits and playing dress up with our vintage goodies.

Ridiculously fun and charged with an incredible energy that one experiences during Salone, the week was filled with the sort of spontaneity and unpredictable bouts of color that LaDoubleJ champions! Chez NB-Lecompte was the place to ring in the Milanese spring with our minimalist-meets-maximalist shopping extravaganza made in Design and Fashion Heaven.
